Cape Town Pride today was awesome! Former and current residents at the shelter joined forces to carry our banner in the Pride Parade. We then all gathered at Reddam Field in Green Point Urban Park for the Pride party. Our stall was buzzing with people chatting to us about the shelter and entering our prize draw to win a fantastic two-night stay at Franschhoek Boutique Hotel. Thank you to everyone who came to chat and who donated money!
This evening, we were honoured to host a memorial service as part of Cape Town Pride 2016 to remember and mourn loved ones who have passed on.
Hosted by our friends at the Good Hope Metropolitan Community Church, the service was a reminder that while Pride is a time for celebration, it's also a time to reflect. Earlier this evening, Lucian Mitas, one of our current residents, beat some stiff competition to take the Mr Cape Town Pride 2016 title in a glittering ceremony at Centre for the Book on Queen Victoria Street in the CBD. Lucian was very proud to be the Pride Shelter's candidate for the title.
Well done, Lucian. We are all very proud of you! |
